Me and Dinkan's Forest !!

[Dinkan is a cartoon character who lives in the thick forest. I used to read stories about Dinkan in my childhood and wonder `if i were a superheoro what all things i would do!!..`]

This incident is very silly. But when i think about my childhood this memory stands out from the rest. Mariyapuram LP school... where i have done my first 4 years of schooling. People believe they start their career only after joining some company, i feel the other way. Whenever we start our studies, our career also starts. Offoo.. where am i going?? May be because of my genius friend "Smi.. effect", i have all this 6th degree thoughts coming in to my mind!! ;-)

My School is around 2 -3 km away from my house. I still remember my good old friend's face (Biju) who used to sit in front of my home for long time waiting for me. For my mom he was the ideal boy. But his family was very poor, even mine. He was very punctual and used to come to my home at around 8. But me.. I would be doing some or the other things till i see his face in front my gate. Then slowly start taking bath, get dressed. Poor Biju, he has to wait another half an hour for me. Then we walk towards our school along with some other friends. White shirt, one red color (not exactly) trouser and one tie that was our uniform. Hey don't think its a English medium high funda school. It was normal a Malayalam medium school. yah thats how i got a nice English vocabulary.

I cant tell this without mentioning my friends names. Kannan - He is staying near to my home. Aneesh -- he is a singer now a days. Pramodh -- my distant relative and friend. (He is no more with us). All five of us go school together. On the way to school there was an old temple - a Muthappan temple. There were so many gooseberry trees (nelli maram) in front of that temple. We wait for the 4'O clock school bell to ring. As soon as we hear the bell we run towards these trees to get some gooseberries. Most of the time i would be the last one to reach there. Somehow i manage to get 1 or 2. After that drink water from nearby well. Kool awesome. I cant believe my self. Everything has gone. All those good days are gone for ever.

Now let me come to the interesting part. One day Kannan told me he found out one alternate way to school. Good part was that we can save 15 minutes of our time if we go by this route. But the bad part is, the place that we have to cross is look like a jungle. We may find snakes, leeches and other creatures there. One more important thing, we all miss those Gooseberry trees. That day we were discussing only about this. I had many questions. Is there any problem? If something happened who will save us. Somehow my friend convinced me to go that way. He told us that are looks like forest is called "Dinkan's forest". So something bad happened Dinkan will come to save us. We heard about Dinkan from the comic books who save people in the Forest when needed. So we all agreed to take that risk and try the new path.

Time 4 O clock. School bell rang just like all other days. But today it was something special for some of us. I felt like i'm going for some kind of adventure. With half minds we reached the entrance of that place. Kannan was leading us towards that place. Everybody was looking at each other when we follow him. I was afraid by just looking at that place. Actually the place look like a jungle. I could see few snake holes few meters away. There was a small narrow path in between trees. We all have to go through that. Too scary. We almost tuned back. Kannan told us common guys lets explore this way. We may be the first people who use this way to reach home from School. Lets go....

Finally we started our hilarious journey. For each and every step we took lot of time. After each step we look around to make sure everything is fine. This place was filled with thick bushes and big trees. There was a small stream and we spotted some small fishes in that. We expected some snake like Cobra there. We have carefully crossed the stream. I still remember it was dark inside that forest. Sunlight was not coming inside because of the huge trees. It was just 4 30, but we felt its almost 9. We were holding each others hand to get some strength. Our hearts were beating fast. No one was uttering a single word. We almost cried and try to call Dinkan for help. Every one was expecting some tiger or a Cobra on the way. Somehow we reached the other side of the place. Ooo my god.. That moment itself we decided not to come that way anymore..

But next day same time we all gathered together and thought of taking the same way. I don't know, but some unknown force was calling us towards that place. This time also we were a little bit afraid. Days gone we started spending more and more time in that place. We found many fruits (karakaaya dont know eng name) there and started eating. Sometime we gave to our class mates and they wonder from where you guys getting this!!

One day when we are about to reached other side of the jungle, we see one old guy coming from the otherside. He was looking like tribal guy. He very dark, big mustache wearing only dothi. He started scolding us as if we have stolen something from him. He was shouting "who gave permission to enter in to my land? If you are coming that place again i gonna complain in your school". Sad... But that was the end of our expedition.

But those memories are still alive in my mind. Dinkan's forest.. and the journeys :-). I went that place some years back just to see the jungle which we used to mention as Dinkan's Forest. I could see nothing left there but a wide road towards Mariyapuram school. yahh.. my friend's word became true. We were the first people to use that path. Now i am glad and sad. I am glad that we found that way. Sad because no more Dinkan's forest.. That beautiful place gone for ever. Buried deeply in the graveyard of past time...

Train and jayasurian!!!

My train journeys are very funny and sad these days. There are many reason. Many reasons ...

I like train. Why? My mother, aunts and my friends asked this question well before. I used to go to my Aunts home just to see the train. I wait for the vacation to come so i can go there and see some trains. There were some steps in between Aunts home and the rails. I go there and sit in the steps watching the red and green light. I was very happy when i see one green light. I know a train gonna come. :). My Aunt shifted from there and stopped going her home!

From my home i have to go around 3 km to see one railway track. Me and some of my friends used to go there and see trains there. That place is called 'Boat Jetty' superb. I heard from my friends that in old days there were some boat services. Near to that there is a railway bridge over a small stream which splits the field in to two. We sit near to the bridge. While going there we carry some 5 10 paise coins and put that coin in the rails. What we get when we come back is a maximized version of 5 10 paise coin which has no value in our market.

One day i had a wish. I want to see train, not a simple train, a train with all her lights switched on. So i can see that only in the night. I told this to my friends. No one agreed to that. What to do? What kind of friends are these!! Those days one of my friends cousin came to stay with him. I told him about my idea to see a train with lights. He was also excited. We planned to go see the light train. :)

One night i clearly remember there was a cricket match between Ind and pak. All are watching that match. We both planned to go that time. Both took a cycle and started our journey. I never been to that place in night. We reached the the place with in 20 min. Whoww.. No light at all. All i can see dark fields.... When we reached the road near to the bridge we have seen again we have to go 500 mtr to reach the bridge. We cant take our cycle there. And also we have to go there in between the fields. We had no idea what to do! Finally we agreed to sat near to the road and watch the train from there itself.

We wait there for long time. yahh.. we heard one horn, the train is coming. we are happy and excited. But we could see only the Engine rest of the train was black color. !!! After 2-3 min we got the thing. That was a Goods train. Hmm.. We planned to stay there. I don't know how long we wait there. I think some hours passed.

After some time i heard some voice at the end of the road. Somebody is calling my name .. "soooriaaan". Who is that? again some one called my name. Yahh.. Those voice are familiar to me Pramod and Robin. Hoo man they are searching for us. So everyone is searching for us. I asked him what to do , should we answer? He said if they are brave they will come here to take us if not we wont go from here until otherwise we see one lighted train. I dont know what to say, i know when i reach home my mom and dad will say some good words. Anyway whatever happed is happened, i wont go back with out watching one train.

We wait there for some more time. I think some hours. Only we see some Goods Trains. Hmm.... That day i cursed Indian Railway. That time they don't have any train at all. I heared some voice from here and there... some frogs were making sounds saying that rain is coming go home. at last we planned to go back without watching a train. We were sad and about to go back , that time i heared one more horn. We wait there to see the train. At last the train has come. We see the engine and the next 3 bogies flood with light and the last 2 bogies. What happened to the rest. Why there are no light? I had no idea about that time.

When we came back mom and dad were there, not only them many of my neighbors were there to welcoming we 2 heroes. That night i couldn't sleep, Not because i got a lot of sweet words from my mother , i couldn't see one train with light!!

Now when i look back all this while traveling in a train, i want to go back and be a boy like my old days. After coming from there only my friends giving a short description about that place. That place is not good at all in the night. Many people were found dead those days. Who knows this stories. Anyway i remember this big incident after a long time. Dinto who came with me never ever came to my friends home after this incident. I never visited that place ever after that. I wish i can go there one more time.

There are lot more things which happened in between my train journeys. When i get time i will write that also. :)

NP: written this when i am coming back from thrissur to bangalore. Mistakes r there..

Me and my Mobile...

In my life there was no importance for mobile... Really?? hmm... Sometimes i feel the necessity of the mobile... I had seen my class mates calling their boy/girl friends.. At that time i feel "Ooo.. man if i got the mobile i might have got so many gal friends!!" . I don't know what to say Lucky/Unlucky i never got a chance to buy one mobile.

Why i were envy about my friends those who are having mobiles?? Yaa... there is no reason actually .. My mom used to make calls to their cell phones and they helped me a lot to connect that call to me.. Still... when i have seen those friends talking hours & hours talking with their friends .. i cant....

Now i have got the job... yeh,... I thought now i can buy one.. Still problem. I have only 600/- with me. What to do? And also i am staying with my cousin. So i simply waited to get my first salary. Yehh,... i got my salary last month. With my friend Cool Dude i went to buy one SIMPLE mobile. okay that was alright...

Now the real problems. i want a mobile connection.. There were only 2 options for me. Airtel/ Hutch.
Hmm.. which one to choose. After getting an advice from my friend i thought better to take hutch. This decision i took after 1 week since i brought the mobile.

My friend introduce me to one of his friends friend. Yeh.. i thought i will get the connection today itself. I was very happy. I have seen jayasurian carrying mobile and talking to all his friends , home ..etc...etc...They asked me 3 documents. Okay i agreed . i said i will get that things with in 2 days. Okay they have given me the SIM and also they added one more word "The sim will be activated only after you submit the documents.." . Poor jayasu.. What to do>>??

I got the documents after 2 days. I called that guy again . (the thing is that whenever i call i can hear a hindi song which is his dial tone... ) Okay he is in front of my office. i gave him the documents.. "hey hey where is the address mentioned here.?? ".. Whats that?? He asked me new documents.. okay.. i agreed . And also that guy gave me a happy news... that he will try to activate the SIM using a temp address.. Okieeeee.....

Again i start dreaming.. phone..calls.. friends... hmmm.... I was checking my mobile in 10 minutes gap. I put my mobile in silent mode.. I don't what time call will come. Sometimes it will activated when i talk to my boss. So its better to put in silent mode. Also i checked my mobiles battery power. I was waiting waiting.....

Nothing happened... What happened?? Whether his manager scold him. ?? i don't know. so i thought i can argue only after giving the documents. Again i made one letter stating that i am living here and there.. Again i called him. (in between i by hearted that dial tone!!!) He came when i went to take my lunch!!! And he went!!@#. Again call... He came in the office (whoops sorry not in the office in the road ) and asked me to come there and give the documents. Yup i did the same. Again he said another sweet word "i am now going just for enabling your SIM" ....

Finally ..... i thought... now i can say i got mobile connection. Another problem i was facing was all are asking about my mobile and number .. plzz jayasu just give me a missed call so i can save your number.. whats your number?? etc etc... what to say,.. but today i have the answer . Today i gonna make calls to home. My first call .. i will call up my mom first... Yehh......

Thinking like this i reached home... Nothing happened... Why?? What happened?? May be some problem .. may be tomorrow morning i will get it...

Today saturday .. now time is 8:45 pm IST.... iam waiting... for that activation message.......
